BARD OF AVON LODGE, c1876, award medal in silver (37mm) (BHM 3032), by J.S. & A.B.Wyon, obverse, bust of William Shakespeare left, reverse, wreath, unnamed, in original case by Wyon. Nicely toned, nearly uncirculated and rare as not recorded in silver.

The Bard of Avon Masonic Lodge was consecrated in 1859. In 1876 the members voted to purchase a gold medal annually for various subjects at Trinity College. The medal ceased to be issued after 1880. That medal is a different design to this medal. The history of this medal is unknown.
