Septimius Severus, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius (3.48g), Laodicea ad Mare mint, issued 201-2 AD, obv. laureate bust facing right, SEVERVS AVG ART MAX P M TR P VIIII, rev. Victory advancing left, holding wreath and palm frond, COS [I]I P P around (c.f. S.6270; RIC IV 523; RSC 98). Reverse struck slightly offcentre, nearly extremely fine/ very fine, a scarce provincial issue.
Ex S.J. Green Collection, purchased from Heritage Auctions 231622 (lot 61044). Previously in a slab by NGC as AU (certificate number 4247655-035).
