Gaius (Caligula), AE quadrans, (3.07 g) issued 41, obv. C CAESAR DIVI AVG PRON AVG around S C divided by pileus, rev. PON M TR P III P P COS QVAT around RCC, (cf.S.1804, RIC I -, RIC I (1st ed.) 41, BMCRE 79-80, BN 126-7). Even brown patina, very fine or better and rare.

This quadrans is from the rare last year of issue when Caligula was consul for the fourth time. It was issued in 41 A.D. and he was assassinated on 24 January of that year. It is unlisted in RIC 2nd ed and there are none in Coin Archives.
