Syria, Kingdom of, Demetrios I Soter, (162-150 BC), silver tetradrachm (15.88g), Antioch on the Orontes mint, dated S.E. 162 (151-50 BC), obv. diademed head of Demetrios right, with fleshy features and long hair on back of neck, rev. Tyche seated left on backless throne with tritoness support, holding sceptre and cornucopiae, **BASILEWS* to right, *[D]HMHTRIOY [SW]THRO[S]* to left, **BXR* (date) in exergue (HGC 9 798; SC 1641.8; SNG Spaer 1288-9). Steely grey tone with blue highlights, struck off centre, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
