Ionia, Ephesus, (c.180-67 B.C.), silver cistophoric tetradrachm, (12.62 g), struck 137-134 B.C., obv. cista mystica containing serpent, all within ivy wreath, rev. bow in case between two coiled serpents, to left **EFE, to right hippocamp, naked male (Herakles?) above, (cf.S.4395, Kleiner & Noe Series 39.56, SNG Copenhagen -). Bright, nearly extremely fine and rare.
