Thessaly, Pharsalus, (425-400 B.C.), silver drachm, (6.02 g), obv. Athena head to right in close fitting helmet, ornamented with wing, TO behind, rev. horseman prancing to right, **FARS around horse, within incuse square, TH in small letters below horse, (cf.S.2191, Lavva 101, cf.BCD 638, HGC 6, 624). Bright, good very fine and rare, minor scratches on the obverse.
Ex Patrick Cooper Collection, from CNG Triton VI, Auction Sale 13 January 2003 (lot 1542 part), bought from the Howard Simmons, Cumberland Coin Fair, February 1989. Lot includes his and CNG ticket.
