Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.25 g), Sardes Mint, struck under Menander, issued 324-323 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with plain border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, bee in left field, below throne, monogram above three pellets, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 2563 var (no pellets), ADM I Series X var. [unlisted variety]). Bright, extremely fine and a unique variety.
