Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.20 g), Odessus Mint, issued c.125-70 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right, with lion skin, rev. Zeus seated to left, eagle in outstretched hand, to left **ALEXANDROU*, to right [B]ASILEWS, to left under arm **QE*, below throne a monogram, (S.-, Price 1181, M.419, BMC 1181, SNG Cop.723-4). Large flan with centred obverse, distinctive head and lion skin, type of very late style, off-centred reverse, otherwise extremely fine and rare.
