Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.22 g), Magnesia ad Maeandrum Mint, issued under Antigonos I Monophthalmos, (320-306/5 B.C., or king, 306/5-301 BC B.C.), as Strategos of Asia, struck 318-301 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion^skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated on^throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, N in circle in left field, crescent below throne, **ALEXANDROU* to right, (cf.S.6730, unpublished, but cf. BM inv. 2002,0101.480 for an example of Price 1982 struck from the same obverse die). Toned, good very fine and very rare.
