Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.98 g), Callatis Mint, issued c.250-225 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **PAR* monogram over K in left field, **Q* under throne, corn ear in exergue, to left **BASILEWS*, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 934. BMC -, M.-). Bright, well centred reverse, obverse with surface marks on chin and face, extremely fine and very rare.
