Sicily, Gela, (c.490/85-480/75 B.C.), silver didrachm, (8.62 g), obv. naked horseman to right wearing crested helmet, galloping right brandishing spear held high in his hand, rev. man headed bull to right with long beard, to right and below **C E L A*, (S.713, Jenkins Group Ib, 7 (O 4, R 4), HGC 2, 362, SNG ANS 4, SNG Lloyd 956, SNG Newham Davis 50 (same dies), Basel 279, Kraay & Hirmer 155 (same rev. die), Rizzo pl. XVII, 6). Attractively toned, well centred and struck, superb extremely fine and very rare in this condition.
