Italy, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), (315-302 B.C.), silver nomos, **S*A and A**P* magistrates, (7.66 g), obv. naked horseman at full gallop on horse to right, holding javelins and shield, below **S*A, rev. Phalanthos riding dolphin left, holding kantharos and trident, A**P* to left, dolphin below, to right **TAPAS, (cf.S.342, Fischer-Bossert Group 70, 846 (V336/R657), Vlasto 601 (same obv. die), HN Italy 937, Gulbenkian 35 (same dies), Jameson 156 [same dies]). Attractively toned, minor areas of roughness, good very fine and scarce.
