Macedon, Kingdom of, Philip III, (323-316 B.C.), gold stater, (8.60 g), Babylon Mint, issued 323-317 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with griffin, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand and a partial wheel in outer left field, to left **B ASILE[WS]* and H**D*T monogram in lower left field, to right **FILIPPOU* and TH monogram lower right field, (cf.S.6746, cf.Price P198 [p.472 for similar symbol N in right lower field], cf.M.P27, cf.BMC P198). Nearly extremely fine with traces of original mint bloom, very rare with unlisted symbol combination.
