Macedon, Kingdom of, Philip III Arrhidaios, (323-317 B.C.), gold stater, (8.58), Babylon Mint, issued 323-318/7 B.C. under Archon, Dokimos or Seleukos I, obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, **YL* below left wing, M in left field, **BA SILEWS* to left, to right **PHILIPPOU*, (cf.S.6702, Price P180 var[**LY* below wing], ANS 1980.109.38 var [same obv. die]). Areas of die wear and some minor marks, good very fine and a very rare variety.
