Macedon, Kingdom of, time of Alexander III - Seleukos I, (324/3-300 B.C.), gold stater, (8.60 g), uncertain mint in the east, in the name of Alexander III, obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with griffin, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, **S* below left wing, to left **BA SILEWS*, to right **ALEXANDPOU*, (cf.S.6702, Price 3998, SNG Berry 168 [same dies]). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.
