Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.53 g), Tarsos Mint, issued c.332/1-327 B.C., struck under Blakros or Menes, obv. head of Athena to right wearing single-pendant earring, necklace, and triple-crested Corinthian helmet adorned with a griffin, rev. Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand, cradling stylis in left arm, wreath below right wing, to left **ALEXANDP[O]U*, (cf.S.6702, Price 3457 [Sidon], Newell Sidon 1 [dies F/n]). Struck from slightly worn dies, good very fine and very rare.
