Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.59 g), Sardes Mint, issued c.330/25-324/3 B.C., struck under Menander, obv. helmeted head of Athena to right, rev. Nike standing left, holding wreath in extended right hand, cradling stylis in left arm, serpent to left **ALEXANDP[OU]*, (cf.S.6702, Price 2532, ADM I Series III). A few metal flaws and minor marks, otherwise good very fine or better and scarce.
