Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.58 g), Lampsacus Mint, issued 328-323 B.C. under Kalas or Demarchos, obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with serpent, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, two horse foreparts conjoined in left field, D over O monogram under wing, around to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6702, Price 1358, M.395, BMC 1358a-e). A few edge knocks, otherwise extremely fine with some lustre, scarce.
