Thrace, Kingdom of, Lysimachos, (305-281 B.C.), gold stater, (8.43 g), uncertain mint, issued as an early posthumous issue after 281 B.C., c.mid 3rd century B.C., obv. diademed head of Alexander the Great to right, wearing horn of Ammon, rev. Athena Nikephoros enthroned to left, holding Nike and resting left arm on shield, transverse spear resting against right side, to right **BASILEW[S]*, to left **LUSIMACOU* and monogram in inner left field, (cf.S.6813, cf.M.465, Thompson -). Extremely fine, of finest style, unpublished and extremely rare.
