Constans II, (641-668), gold light weight solidus, Constantinople mint, issued 651-654, (4.22 grams), officina E, obv. bust facing of Constans II with long beard, chlamys and crown, and holding cross on a globe, around dN CONStAN TINUS PP AV, rev. cross potent on base and three steps, below CONOB+, around VICTORIA AVGUE, star to right in field, (S.978, DOW (23), specimen in Istanbul, [see Hahn 47 p.241]). Good very fine and very rare type, officina only known from this cited example.
