Group of Four to KIA: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. First two medals unnamed, 23237 M.E.Skeggs. on the third and fourth medals. The named medals impressed. Court mounted, a few light contact marks, otherwise toned extremely fine.

Morris Edgar Skeggs, born 29Nov1919 at Hobart, Tas; Enl.03Jun1939 at Melbourne, Vic in RAN (23237) and to Stoker II at HMAS Cerberus; to Stoker 03Jun1940; to London Depot 16Jul1940; to HMAS Napier 28Nov1940; to HMAS Parramatta 23Nov1941; KIA 27Nov1941 when HMAS Parramatta II, the Australian sloop that was part of the 'Tobruk Ferry Service' running supplies into Tobruk during the siege, was sunk by the German submarine U559 in the Mediterranean Sea with the loss of 138 officers and men; commemorated at the Plymouth Naval Memorial.
