1914-15 Star to Australian at Battle of Jutland. K.24351 W.Roberts, Sto. 1 R.N. Impressed.; also a sweetheart badge in voided sterling silver, hallmarked for Birmingham 1916 by maker 'F.H.M' (Frank Henry Mannox), pin-back at angle, features a fouled anchor with a crowned HMS shield sideways and this inscribed, 'MARLBOROUGH/NORTH.SEA/BATTLE/MAY.31st/1916'. Extremely fine.
Entitled to British War Medal 1914-18 and Victory Medal 1914-19, both of which were issued by Australia.
Together with a 1918 message from King George V wishing good health and a safe return and thanks for faithful services with unaddressed 'A Message To You From The King' envelope; a woven Royal Navy card; two postcards, one for H.M.S. Marlborough for The Battle of Jutland May 31, 1916; softcover book titled, 'Jutland' by Captain Donald Macintyre D.S.O. & 2 Bars, D.S.C., R.N. (Retd.), first published in 1957, this is 1960 edition, 222pp.

William Roberts, miner, born 25Jun1890 at Newcastle, NSW; Enl.16Feb1915 in Royal Navy; served HMS Marlborough Jul1915 to Feb1917 and present at Battle of Jutland on 31May1916; then served on Depot ship HMS Leander and HMS Sylvia of 7th Destroyer Flotilla at Scapa Flow; trf to RAN 12Dec1917 (O.N.8550) and served on HMAS Sydney as Stoker I 07Dec1917 to 04Jan1919; then served on Depot ship HMAS Penguin at Garden Island 11Apr1919 to 27Mar1921; invalided from RAN27Mar1921 and recommended for War Pension; then lived with his wife at Kurri Kurri, West Maitland, NSW.
