Pair: British War Medal 1914-18; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (EVIIR). 154583 E.E.Pope. Ch. Sto. R.N. on first medal, E.E.Pope, Ch. Sto., H.M.S.Euryalus. on second medal. Both medals impressed. Display mounted, both medals with irregular toning and some contact marks, otherwise very fine.
Ernest Edward Pope, stonemason, born 12Sep1870 at Gosport, Hampshire, UK; Enl.23Apr1890 in Royal Navy; over a period of 27 years service he served on a variety of ships and rose to the rank of Chief Stoker. He served on HMS Revenge that served in the International Squadron that intervened in the uprising in Crete and also served on HMS Euryalus, the flagship of the Australia Station 1904-05; Disch.22Apr1912 to Royal Fleet Reserve; recalled for WWI before being demobilised on 23Oct1917; Died 12May1922 at Portsmouth.
