Philip Bowles Drayner, draper, born 07 Feb1882 at Cheriton, Kent on 07Feb1882; joined the Royal Navy on 07Feb1900; transferred to the R.F.R. at Chatham on 24Feb1912; recalled on the outbreak of war and saw active service in the Dardanelles in H.M.S. Bacchante; she was present at the landings at Anzac Cove in April 1915 and later bombarded Turkish positions at Lone Pine; from 28Mar1916 served on H.M.S. Campania until it was accidentally sunk after colliding with H.M.S. Royal Oak and H.M.S. Glorious on 05Nov1918; received LS&GC Medal 21May1917; Disch.17Mar1919.
