Republic, Julius Caesar, (assassinated 44 B.C.), silver denarius, Spanish mint, issued 46-5 B.C., (4.13 grams), obv. Venus diademed head to right, with Cupid on shoulder, dotted border, rev. Gallia and a Gaulish captive seated beneath trophy, CAE[SAR] in exergue, (S.357, Cr. 468/1, Syd. 1014). Reverse off centre, otherwise very fine and scarce.
