Palestine, Judaea, Second Revolt or Bar Cochba War, (A.D. 132-135), medium bronze, AE 23, (11.9 grams), Third Coinage, undated attributed to year 1 = A.D. 132-3, obv. vine leaf, around Hebrew legend = 'Year 1 for the Redemption of Israel', rev. seven branch palm tree with legend in Hebrew 'Shim`on', (S.5675, Group 1b and Mildenberg 47 [these dies obv. 2, rev. 12, see note on die wear], BMC 27, H. 679 [$750]). Brown tone with worn obverse die as usual, otherwise good fine/good very fine and very rare.
This type for year 1 is only known from this die combination and noted in Sear as the rarest variant. Mildenberg notes 10 examples of this group, making it by far the rarest group.
