MM Trio: Military Medal (GVR type 1); British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2732 2 Cpl N.Fletcher. 7/F. Coy Aust:E. on first medal, 2732 Cpl N.Fletcher. 7 F.C.E. A.I.F. on last two medals. All medals impressed. Each medal with a pin-back ribbon suspender, toned very fine.
Together with,^1) Returned from Active Service Badge, reverse numbered 94238.^2) Rising Sun hat badge and collar badge, both in oxidised bronze.^3) Australia brass title badges in bronze (2) and ENGRS brass title badges in oxidised bronze (2).^4) AMF brass buttons, large (4), small (4).^5) Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League Australia large 2-figure type badge, reverse numbered 55547.^6) Returned Sailors and Soldiers Imperial League Australia small 2-figure type badge, reverse numbered N.R. 14122.^7) Small piece of BWM ribbon and a De Reszke cigarette tin, c1920s. ^MM: LG 19/11/1917, p1197; CAG 7/3/1918, p399 - to 2nd Corporal Nathan Fletcher, 7th Field Company, Australian Engineers.^Recommendation: During the attack operations near Westhoek east of Ypres on 20th September 1917, 2nd Corporal Fletcher was one of a party detailed to construct a strong point in the second objective. 2nd Corporal Fletcher very coolly and efficiently organised the stores of the party under disconcerting shell fire and subsequently, in face of exceedingly heavy barrages, displayed great coolness and judgment whilst taping out the strong point. 2nd Corporal Fletcher exercised splendid control of his party during the erection of 200 yards of wiring about the strong point. 2nd Corporal Fletcher's behaviour throughout was most gallant and inspiring to his men in very severe conditions.^Nathan Fletcher, carpenter, age 27, born at Scarborough, Yorkshire, England; Enl.06Sep1915 at Victoria Barracks, Sydney, NSW; Emb.27Nov1915 as Sapper with 7FCE; to France 14Mar1916; to L/Cpl 07Dec1916; to T/2Cpl 01May1917 in Belgium; to 2Cpl 23Jul1917; to Cpl 01Jan1918; to France 01Aug1918; returned to England 29Nov1918 and to hospital with influenza; RTA 09Feb1919; Disch.27May1919.
