970 Sidney Bernard Larkin, electrical mechanic, age 24, born at Balmain, Sydney, NSW; Enl.16Oct1916 at RASG, Sydney, NSW in 4Sqn Aust Flying Corps, with previous service in Senior Cadets; Emb.17Jan1917; to A/L.Cpl 01Apr1917; trf to 71Sqn, AFC 02Apr1917; killed in a flying accident 14Aug1917; Court of Enquiry on 17Aug1917 found that 2/AM S.B. Larkin, while a passenger in an aircraft flown by 2/Lt T.F. Hosking RFC at Castle Bromwich, England on 14Aug1917, was killed due to an accident resulting in him suffering a broken neck and skull fracture with death instantaneous; buried at Lodge Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, England with full military funeral with Firing Party and bugler in attendance.
