Trajan, (A.D. 98-117), AE quadrans, Ulpianum mine issue, struck 103, Rome Mint, (2.98 g), obv. laureate head right, rev. Aequitas standing left, holding scales and cornucopiae, around traces of METALLI VLPIANI, (S.3252, RIC 708, C.182). Toned, nearly very fine, rare.
Ex Dr V.J.A.Flynn Collection and previously CNG Auction 202, (lot 243), January 14, 2009, from the White Mountain Collection, with CNG ticket.^The issue refers to the Ulpianum (Dardanian) mine, probably as the source of copper.
