Thrace, Philippopolis, various issues, including Commodus, (AD 177-192), AE 18mm, (4.49 g), obv. laureate head to right, rev. eagle standing right on altar, trees and shrubs flanking, (cf.Varbanov 1030); another Septimius Severus, (AD 193-211), AE 18mm, (4.26 g), obv. laureate head right, rev. crossed cornucopiae, (Varbanov 1267) green patination; third coin, similar, Caracalla (AD 198-217), AE 30mm, (17.23 g), Alexandria Pythian Games issue of 215, obv. laureate head to right, rev. Zeus seated to left, holding patera and sceptre, (Varbanov 1451) (illustrated); fourth coin, Thrace, Plotinopolis, Faustina Junior, Augusta, (AD 147-175), AE 23mm, (6.65 g), obv. draped bust to right, rev. Demeter standing left holding grain ears and long torch, altar at feet, (Varbanov 1830, BMC 4, [p.169]). First two and last coins porous, third good very fine others fine, all rare. (4)
