Boiotia, Thebes, (395-338 B.C.), silver stater (12.04 g), Onas.. magistrate, issued 379-368 B.C., obv. Boiotian shield, rev. amphora in concave field, across field to left ON and to right A/*S*, (cf.S.2398, BCD 520 [Triton IX p.98], Head 'Boeotia' p.66, Hepworth C No.79 on list). Lightly toned, well centred, good very fine and rare.
Ex CNG private sale, possibly from BCD Colletion, October 9, 2002. Hepworth believes from its rarity 21 to 50 examples known. Lot includes detailed collector's ticket.
