Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.59 g), Miletus Mint, issued c.295-275 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, double headed axe under throne, monogram in circle in left field, **ALEXANDRO[U]* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 2148, SNG Cop.896, Thompson 'Miletus' 260-272, SNG Ash. 2792. BMC 2148, M.1139). Toned, good very fine.
