Macedon, Kings of, Philip V (221-179 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, uncertain mint possibly Pella or Amphipolis, (16.38 g), struck 188/7-184 B.C., obv. head of the hero Perseus to left wearing winged helmet surmounted by a griffin head, harpa in background all in the centre of a Macedonian shield, rev. club, across **BASILEWS* above and **FILIPPOU* below, all within an oak wreath tying to left, monograms below, (S.6791, SNG Munich 1126, Mamroth 2, HGC 3, 1, 1056, SNG Lockett 1529). Attractive patina, good very fine and very rare.
