Faustina Junior, wife of Marcus Aurelius, (d.A.D. 175), AE dupondius or as, issued 145-146, Rome Mint, (14.54 g), obv. FAVSTINAE AVG PII AVG FIL, draped bust to right, rev. Peacock standing front with tail spread, (S.-, RIC 1406, BMC (cast). Dark brown patina, mild surface pitting, good fine - nearly very fine and extremely rare.
Ex Dr Hugh Preston Collection.
This rare type is only known in the British Museum as a cast.
