Egypt, Alexandria, Faustina Junior, wife of Marcus Aurelius, (d.A.D. 175), billon tetradrachm, (12.78 g), dated year 14 of Antoninus Pius, (A.D. 150-151), obv. draped bust to right, around **F*AVCTINA [CEB]ACTH, rev. eagle standing right, head left, holding wreath in beak, LI **D* in field, (S.-, Koln 1951, Dattari (Savio) 3275, K&G 38.55, Emmett 1939.14 (R3)). Toned, some surface pitting, very fine and rare for this regnal year.
Ex Dr Hugh Preston Collection, previously CNG eSale 397, (lot 369), from the A.K. Collection, purchased from Frank Sternberg AG, 1980 (reportedly ex N£geli Collection).
