Thessaly, Thessalian League, (196-146 B.C.), silver stater or double victoriatus, (6.05 g), Larissa Mint, obv. head of Zeus to right, crowned with oak leaves, rev. Athena Itonia advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield, on sides **QESSA LWN*, above across **GOR GIA[S]*, either side of figure **QE MI/S T, (cf.S.2232, cf.McClean 4930, cf.SNG Cop. 271, cf.BCD 882.1), Very fine or better, porous on the reverse, a rare variant.
