Italy, Calabria, Tarentum (Taras), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (302-281 B.C.), (7.81 g), obv. naked horseman on horseback prancing to left, holding small shield behind him, to right **[SI]*, below horse **[FILOKLHS]*, rev. Taras to left, riding on dolphin's back with arm extended holding out wreath, below dolphin **LU*, ethnic to right **TARAS*, (cf.S.363, Vl.689-690 (p.80, Pl.XXII very similar dies), Evans Period VI C2, SNG Cop. 870, (Pl.19), cf.SNG Ash. 304 (Pl.V, similar dies). Toned, struck from worn dies, very fine and a rare variety.
