Colonial Auxiliary Force Long Service Medal, (GVR in uniform), with modern pin-back ribbon suspender. No 309 Sgt W.Simons 3rd A.I. Regt. 1st Br: 20.7.12. Renamed and engraved. Harshly cleaned, very good.

William Simons, farmer and later motor proprietor, age 25, born at Rhyana, Goulburn, NSW; Enl.19Apr1902 for service in the Boer War in South Africa with Aust C'Wth Horse; Emb.22May1902; hostilities ceased 31May1902; RTA 01Aug1902 and discharged to Part Time Duty; awarded CAFLSM Dec1912 as Sergeant; Enl.19Feb1917 in AIF; Emb.10May1917; to 1LHR 16Aug1917 and to Driver 09Feb1918; sick with malaria and then with pyrexia; RTA 22Dec1918; Disch.19Mar1919 Medically Unfit; Died 14Nov1951 in Queensland; his brother, Mountford Simons born in 1864 died in Egypt 03May1916 with 2nd Remount Unit.
