Aethelred II, (978-1016), silver penny, long cross type, Bath Mint, moneyer Eadstan, (1.64 g), obv. small bare headed bust left to edge of flan, longer hair made up of 17 strands, pellet behind neck, six horizontal folds to drapery, no inner circle or sceptre, legend +AEDELRAED REX ANGLOX (NG ligated) around begins at 7 o'clock, rev. voided long cross with pellet in centre and triple crescent ends dividing legend +ED STAN MOO BAD, around, (S.1151, N.774, BMC iva). Attractively toned, good very fine and rare.
