George Ball, shipwright, born at Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, his father rose to the rank of Superintendent of Police in Northampton (died 15May1877); Enl.01Sep1863 at Ballarat, Vic; he received two land grants, one at Opotiki (1 acre), and another at Waimana (50 acres).
