M. Plaetorius M.F. Cestianus, (69 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (3.87 g), obv. Cybele turreted bust to right, forepart of lion behind shoulder, globe under chin, CESTIANVS behind, rev. M. PLAETORIVS AED CVR EX S.C., curule chair facing, palm leaf to left, (S.350, Cr.409/2, Syd.808, RSC Plaetoria 3). Slightly off centred on obverse, otherwise brilliant, good extremely fine and rare thus.

This refers to the celebration of the Ludi Megalesiaci, in honour of Cybele, which were under the control of the curule aediles.
