Peloponnesos, Elis, Olympia, 131-132nd Olympiad, (mid 250's or 256-252 B.C.), silver hemidrachm, (2.28 g), obv. Zeus Olympios bearded head crowned with olive wreath to right, rev, F A/A across with eagle standing right, with long legs and spread tail feathers to lower right an Ionic capital, (cf.S.2900, BCD [Leu 90] 225 [similar obverse die], Seltman Pl.VIII, 30, BMC 138, SNG Delepierrre 2198, HGC 5, 511 [S]). Lightly toned, nearly very fine/very fine and rare. $$ Ex BCD Collection, from CNG Auction Sale Triton XIII, January 5, 2010 (lot 2175 part), originally from a private purchase from BCD, previously from W.P. Wallace Collection. illustrated Veres December 1979. Lot includes descriptive collector's ticket and BCD tickets.
