Norman Arthur Turner, labourer, age 20, born at Redfern, Sydney, NSW; Enl.24May1940 at Paddington, Sydney, NSW; Emb.19Oct1940; served in the Middle East; RTA 27Feb1943; court martialled for being AWL 03May to 24Jun1943; found guilty and sentenced to 9 months detention and had previously been convicted of AWL (twice) and failing to appear at parade; Disch.11Oct1944 being required for employment in an essential occupation.
In 1968 N. Turner lodged a statutory declaration stating that he lost his service medals and replacements were sent to the engraver. These included examples of the above four medals plus an Africa Star with 8th Army clasp. Since the above four medals are impressed they are possibly part of the medals that were lost.
