Trio to DOW: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1759 Pte H.Fossey. 9 Bn. A.I.F. All medals impressed. Display mounted, verdigris spot on last medal, otherwise toned extremely fine.
Together with Memorial Plaque named to Hurtle Fossey, in cardboard fold-over holder of issue, with original numbered envelope.
Hurtle Fossey, labourer, age 22, born at Melbourne, Vic; Enl.08Jan1915 at Brisbane, Qld, in 4Rfts 9Bn; Emb.08Apr1915; TOS 9Bn at Gallipoli 26May1915; WIA 29Aug1915 shrapnel wound to head, at Gallipoli; DOW at sea on hospital ship Gloucester Castle 30Aug1915 and buried at sea near Gaba Tepe.
