Richard Dunkley (Dunckley), Enl.30Aug1849 in 23rd Foot Regt (known as Royal Welch Fusiliers) at Dublin when he was 17 years of age; to Cpl 07Jul1850; to Sgt 12Aug1851; served in Crimea; at Inkermann on 05Nov1854 Sgt Dunkley was lying severely wounded in front of the 5 Gun Battery when Sgt William Coleby led a party of five bandsmen who successfully carried Dunkley to the rear.
