Pair: Order of St John, Serving Brother (Sister) breast badge, pre-1949 issue in silver and enamel, reverse inscribed, 'N.Hayton/19.10.'40'; Service Medal of the Order of St John, with six bars for each additional 5 years of service, medal edge inscribed, '1942 D/Off. N.Hayton. N.S.W.Dis.Australia. S.J.A.B.O. 1937.'. Both in boxes of issue, very fine.

In February 1935 Divisional Superintendent N. Hayton of the Eastern Suburbs Division of St John Ambulance Brigade was promoted to a District Officer on the Headquarters staff. In 1938 it was reported that District Staff Officer N. Hayton had been awarded the Service Medal of the Order of St John. At a parade inspected by Lady Gowrie at Victoria Barracks in Sydney on Saturday 11 May 1940 Mr N.Hayton was commanding the St John Ambulance Brigade Detachments of women. Later in August 1940 it was confirmed that a list of honours conferred by the King had made N. Hayton a Serving Brother of the Order of St John with the presentation to follow.
