Group of Four: 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. The first two medals unnamed, 43401 Streten C.E.R. on last two medals. The named medals engraved. Nearly uncirculated.
With box of issue and advice of medal entitlement and also guide to wearing. Streten was advised that his last two medals would be forwarded to him when they were received from engravers and that the campaign stars previously issued to him would be engraved if he returned them.
Cecil Edwin Roy Streten, clerk in charge of Photographic Store of the Courier Mail, Brisbane, born 26Sep1915 at Brisbane, Qld; Enl.31Jul1941 at No.3 Recruiting Centre, Brisbane, Qld in RAAF with mustering of Clerk Pay; to LAC 01May1942; to A/Cpl 01Jul1942; to T/Cpl 01Oct1942; remustered as Aircrew 09Jan1943; to T/Sgt 01Apr1943; reclassified LAC 03Sep1943; remustered as Clerk Pay 07Jan1944; served in various locations and units in Australia as well as with Pacific Echelon, Hollandia, NG 30Dec1944 and 1st TAF (B.F.O.) at Morotai, NG and proceeded for duty to Manila with 3 Aust P.O.W. Reception Group 26Aug1945 (Pacific Echelon); Disch.03May1946 as Sergeant ex AFHQ CAS.
Streten did an Air Observer Course as well as a Navigator Course but unfortunately every time he was on a flight he was airsick and unable to overcome this condition despite obtaining good marks and the medical officer concluded that his airsickness was liable to get worse and thus it was recommended that he return to his previous mustering.
