Group of Four: 1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. NX107076 W.Clegg. First two medals engraved, the other two appear to be impressed. All medals toned and with verdigris marks, ribbons dirty, otherwise fine - very fine.

According to his Service File, in March 1975 Clegg claims he lost his Discharge Papers and service medals in about 1950 and after he completed a Statutory Declaration replacements were issued on 24Mar1975.

Together with Rising Sun hat badge (KC) in brass; colour patch lapel badge in silvered and enamel for AAOC (Non-Field Unit); CMF (Citizen Military Forces) badges (KC) (3), by Swan & Hudson, Vic 1950, with double split pin lug fitting on reverse; Corporal's shoulder stripe; N.T. Police Club 1999 membership badge.

William (Miles) Clegg, theatre hand usher, age 26, born at Chatswood, Sydney, NSW; Enl.17Jul1942 at Tomago, NSW, while serving in 13 Aust Infy Bn (N160027); Disch.22Nov1945 with service considered unsatisfactory, includes service in CMF 17Dec1941 to 16Jul1942, AIF 17Jul1942 to 22Nov1945 including service in New Guinea 19Nov1942 to 11Jan1943 and 26Jul1943 to 20May1944; convicted of unlawful assault and awarded 6 months imprisonment in a civil prison, H.M. Prison at Stuart in Townsville, Qld, 15Jan1945; after release also declared an illegal absentee and later charged with failing to obey a lawful command.
