Trio to WIA: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 2/Lieut. R.P.Sutcliffe. 6/Bn. A.I.F. on first medal, 2-Lt. R.P.Sutcliffe. on second medal and Lieut. R.P.Sutcliffe. A.I.F. on last medal. All medals impressed. Display mounted, the first and last medal with toning, very fine - near uncirculated.

Roland Pruett Sutcliffe, private schoolmaster, age 23, born at Ballarat, Vic; Enl.12Apr1915 at Melbourne, Vic, with 6 years in Senior Cadets; Emb.23Nov1915; to France 29Mar1916; TOS Aust Div Base Depot 07May1916; absorbed on strength of 6Bn in France 14Jul1916; to 2/Lieut 20Dec1916; to Lieut 07Feb1917; WIA 08May1917 but remained on duty; Disch.21Dec1917 from AIF in London and appt'd commission in Indian Army; served with 2/35 Sikhs, Indian Army; Died 20Oct1918 at Station Hospital Lahore from pneumonic influenza; Buried at Lahore Cantonment Cemetery.

The 1914-15 Star and the Victory Medal 1914-19 were administered by the Department of Defence, Australia and the British War Medal 1914-18 was administered in India.
