Trio: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1227 Pte J.R.Cox. 11 L.H.R. A.I.F. on first medal, 1227 Dvr. J.R.Cox. 11 L.H.R. A.I.F. on other two medals. All medals impressed. Contact marks on second medal, otherwise very fine.
John Rupert Walker (actual name Cox but served under Walker), labourer, age 23, born at Orange, NSW; Enl.20Aug1915 at Chermside, Qld, in 6Rfts 11LHR; Emb.22Oct1915; TOS 11FAB 01Apr1916 at Serapeum; to Driver 20Apr1916; to France 01Jun1916; various transgressions but finally subject to FGCM on 14Jun1917 for failing to obey lawful command on 10May1917 and sentenced to 9 months imprisonment with hard labour; released from prison 21Jan1919 and entrained to front with unit and remainder of sentence remitted; admitted to 1ADH with VD and discharged on 12May1919; RTA 12Jul1919; lodged a Statutory Declaration dated 22Jul1919 advising that his correct name was John Rupert Cox; Disch.10Oct1919.
